Our Services
Home remodeling on Long Beach Island and in Ocean County — eight things we do, all of them ourselves. One crew, one quote and one person to call, instead of chasing three contractors who each blame the other two.

Who you are hiring
Alex Vega owns Vega Construction and is on the job himself — ten years in the trade, based in Barnegat and working the island and the mainland around it, in English and Spanish.
Carpentry is the trade underneath all eight of these. That is why a window job that turns into a rotted sill, or a bathroom that turns into a subfloor, does not stop and wait for somebody else — and why the repair is priced in your original scope instead of arriving as a change order. More about how we work on the about page.
What we do
Each of these has a page of its own with the detail, the pricing factors and the questions people ask.
Decks
New decks, rebuilds and repairs — including the framing underneath, which is usually in worse shape than the boards on top. Built for salt, sun and a summer’s worth of foot traffic.
See decksPainting
Interior and exterior. The number of coats goes in the quote per elevation, because that is the one difference between two prices you cannot see once the job is done.
See paintingDoors
Entry doors, interior doors, sliders and storm doors — plus the sill and casing around them, priced on the same quote rather than raised on the day.
See doorsWindows
Full-frame and insert replacement. We are not a dealer for any manufacturer, so you pick the windows and we install them — and the quote shows the labour separately.
See windowsBathrooms
Full remodels, tub-to-shower conversions, tile and vanities — with the waterproofing written in as its own line instead of assumed.
See bathroomsKitchens
Cabinets fitted to a room that is not square, tile, islands and built-ins. Buy your own boxes and you pay us only for the fitting.
See kitchensCarpentry
Trim, built-ins, stairs and railings, framing and rot repair — including matching trim profiles that are no longer sold anywhere.
See carpentryFlooring
Hardwood, engineered, vinyl plank and tile, installed and refinished — with the subfloor flattening quoted rather than assumed.
See flooringNot sure which one you need, or whether it is two of them? Say what the house is doing and we will tell you. That is a free call either way.
Why it is one contractor and not five
Most of what goes wrong on a renovation goes wrong in the gaps between trades.
Almost nothing on a house stays inside one category once it is opened up. A bathroom is four trades in the smallest room you own. A deck rebuild turns into framing, then carpentry, then paint. A window job becomes siding and trim before it becomes a window job.
When those pieces belong to different companies, each one arrives, does its part and leaves — and the seam between them is nobody’s. That seam is where the leak lives, where the schedule slips, and where you end up in the middle trying to get two people to agree whose problem it is.
Here it is one crew and one person accountable. The people who take something apart put it back. When something turns up behind a wall you get one phone call from somebody who already knows the whole job, not three explanations that do not match.
It also means our dates are honest. A small crew can only be in one place at a time, so when we give you a start date we are not hoping a subcontractor confirms it.
Jobs that are usually two or three of these
- A window that turns out to be a rotted sill
- A bathroom that turns out to be a subfloor
- A deck that needs the door frame behind it
- A kitchen that needs the floor done first
- Rot repair that needs priming and painting
- A whole house being made ready for the season
What you get when you ask for a quote
The same on all eight, whether it is one door or a whole house.
A free visit, no obligation
We come out, look at what you called about and at what decides whether the fix lasts. If photos are enough to answer you, that is free too and we will say so.
Itemised, in writing
What is included, what is explicitly not, and what each part costs — so you can hold it next to anyone else’s and see where the two differ rather than comparing totals.
What happens if we find more
Priced in advance as a possibility, before you sign. On an older house near the water something usually turns up, and it belongs in the quote rather than in a phone call on day three.
Dates, not a season
Start and finish dates we commit to, planned backwards from your first booking if the house is rented.
The cheaper answer when it is the right one
If what you need is a refinish and not a replacement, or hardware and not a door, we will say so. It costs us the bigger sale and it is why people call us back.
One person to call, in either language
The same number from the estimate to a year later. English or Spanish, and whoever answers has been on your job.
